Young Waters (previously Snufkin)'s official bio
Young Waters’ (Previously Snufkin – The Band) twisted neo-folk is a tapestry of emotionally powerful vocals, stirring harmonies, lyrical violin solos and finely mastered acoustic guitar. Their exhilarating rhythms and intricate, weaving melodies, coupled with a repertoire that combines startling original material with traditional folk songs, makes for a captivating stage presence. This band are set to make a big impact in 2017.
They burst onto the London / Bristol folk scene in 2015 and have been making a name for themselves with their live album, ‘Live from The Fayre’ (recorded live at Rollright Fayre). Following a host of festival appearances in 2016 (including Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Wilderness, Boomtown and Smugglers) they have built a strong following. They rounded off the summer by winning Bath Folk Festival’s New Shoots competition, earning themselves a recording session at Peter Gabriel’s legendary Real World Studios and a prestigious headline slot at the 2017 Bath Folk Festival.
Snufkin is a five-piece band led by Theo Passingham (vocals and guitar) with Kerry Ann Jangle (vocals and percussion), Liam O’Connell (double bass and vocals), Calum Smith (violin) and Rowen Elliot (viola and violin). This winter they will record their debut studio album, set for release in Spring 2017. They will start 2017 with an appearance at the Jazz Café, London, as part of Time Out’s Rising Stars of Folk & Roots.
