You’re invited to join in the Campfire Club! In time-honoured fashion we will gather around roaring blazes enveloped in music and entertainment. High spirits will be maintained with good ol’ sing-a-longs, storytelling, special guests and who knows what else. Every fire will be a unique event with a magic concoction of spontaneity, rare talents and the unknown, all drenched in the sepia tones of firelight and tinged with wooded aromas.
The Rheingans Sisters
Fiddle-singers Rowan and Anna grew up in the Peak District, surrounded by traditional music and encouraged to pick up the fiddle by their violin-maker father from an early age. Both professional musicians, Rowan is well known on the English folk music scene as part of hugely popular BBC Folk Award nominated trio Lady Maisery as well as for her work with Nancy Kerr & The Sweet Visitor Band. She also composes for theatre and is part of the ‘Songs of Separation’ super-group alongside Eliza Carthy and Karine Polwart, amongst others. Anna lives in Toulouse, in southern France, where she is a much sought after fiddle player and teacher of french music traditions, in which she has fast become an expert, having just gained a 1st class diploma from the Conservatioire Occitan. As both sisters have also spent a significant amount of time studying fiddle music in Scandinavia, they pull a range of influences from both the northern and southern European fiddle traditions into their own compositions and arrangements.
Tantz deliver a failsafe fusion of virtuoso instrumentalism, smart-alec arrangements and all manner of pulse-grabbing grooves that turn on a sixpence and keep you on your toes. After a year packed with storming shows, including festivals like Bestival and Secret Garden, a string of gigs to promote their latest album and recent radio play on Cerys Matthews (Radio 6) and Mark Radcliffe (Radio 2), the coming year is set to be even more exciting for Tantz.
“Top-notch musicianship…I have not heard anything quite like this…” – Songlines 2015
