Nest Collective Presents Unamplified

Acclaimed folk duo Sid & Jimmy perform a double-bill with singer-songwriter Samantha Whates.

Jimmy Aldridge and Sid Goldsmith ave fast built a reputation  for their arresting and moving performances of traditional and original folk song from the British Isles. Their sensitive musical arrangements and stunning vocals bring an integrity to their performances, telling stories of hardship, joy, struggle and celebration. Their second album Night Hours (2016) has been well-received by critics, with its driving banjo and guitar arrangements alongside close vocal harmonies.

Samantha Whates‘ beguiling voice draws on the contemporary music scene, whilst retaining a strong affinity with the traditional music of her Scottish roots. She has performed throughout the UK and at major London venues including Union Chapel, Vortex and Cecil Sharp House, with her debut album of original works Dark Nights Make For Brighter Days (2013) enjoying critical acclaim and radio play on BBC 6 Music.

Folk at the Foundling brings traditional music from the British Isles and beyond to the unique surroundings of the Foundling Museum, showcasing folk legends and breakthrough artists in our beautiful and intimate Picture Gallery.
