ME AND MY FRIENDS
There is an enchanting delicacy to the sound produced by Me and My Friends that you wouldn’t perhaps expect from a band whose primary influences include highlife, afro-beat and roots reggae. A unique and singular blend, it’s the sound of English folk colliding head-on with the golden-era music of 1970s West Africa and the Caribbean. Beautiful harmonies, stunning clarinet and cello lines, and mesmerizing bass and drum patterns all cradle the exquisite finger-picking guitar of chief songwriter and vocalist Nick Rasle. These are vintage sounds brilliantly blended with modern English folk and hints of jazz and the life-affirming result is both sumptuous and enthralling.
