Fabrizio Cammarata + Reuben Hollebon PLUS Moira Smiley from tUnE-yArDs, SOLAS, Lomax Project & VOCO
Line Up Info:
Moira Smiley is a Singer / Composer who creates and performs new work for voices. A musical polyglot, and vocal shape-shifter, her voice – and composing – are heard on feature films, BBC & PBS television programs, NPR, and on more than 60 albums. When she’s not leading her own group she tours with Indie artist tUnE-yArDs, Irish music powerhouse, Solas, The Lomax Project and Billy Child’s “Laura Nyro Re-Imagined”. Recent solo performances include TED, Stravinsky’s ‘Les Noces’, the London Proms Festival, features on BBC3’s The Choir, and ABC Australia’s Books & Arts programs. Her recordings feature spare, vocally driven collections of warped traditional songs, original polyphony and body percussion. In addition to her performing work, she is in high demand as a choral clinician, composer and arranger.
“great appeal stems from its members’ spirited voices, unassuming charm and sure sense for repertoire”. Billboard Magazine
“When the vivacious red-headed singer came on stage with her accordion and banjo, joined by her young colleagues, they wove a web of exotic, mostly original songs…in beautifully blended harmony, with striking instrumental accompaniment – and often elaborately choreographed body percussion…superb and personable musicians.” – Stephen Fry, Culver City News
Fabrizio Cammarata is a singer-songwriter and globetrotter hailing from Palermo, Sicily. His hometown and the Mediterranean inspire him, but there is Mexico and Africa in his songs, Bob Dylan, Fabrizio De André, Nick Drake.
Fabrizio has been touring with his well received album “Rooms”, opening shows of Ben Harper, Patti Smith, Daniel Johnston and Hindi Zahra as well as improvising nocturnal jamsessions with Damien Rice. While writing a new album he has been working on an odyssey movie around inspiration and creativity, with filmmaker and Wim Wenders’ director-assistant Luca Lucchesi. It’s a musical journey through four continents, following his obsession for the mystic Mexican traditional “La Llorona”.
Reuben Hollebon is a songwriter from Norfolk, England. Growing up by the diminishing coast, the child of two social workers, Reuben remembers a youth spent pedaling bicycles out to the sea, and exploring the land and people around him. “This is where a lot of my songs come from,” he says. “They are stories that revolve around that life.”
His debut album will be titled Terminal Nostalgia; a reflection of his past, but also a warning note that life should be about now, not only something to carve into a remembrance. The album is colored by his discovery of music as an outlet, and attempts to capture an approach that is at once experimental and accessible, whilst also intense and intimate.
