6 Questions with Dani Larkin

6 Questions with Dani Larkin

20 August, 2024

Dani Larkin writes beguiling, intense folk songs expertly accompanied by guitar and banjo. Her songs move through ruminations on love and experiences of wildness, loss and mystery, steered with a gentle strength and engagingly calm conviction.

Larkin’s debut album, Notes For A Maiden Warrior, was nominated for ‘Best Single’ (2022), ‘Best Album’ at Northern Ireland Music Prize (2021), and Best Emerging Artist at RTE Folk Awards (2021) which put Larkin firmly on the map of contemporary Irish artists to take note of.

Pipped by RTE Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, Double J (Australia) and Folk Radio UK as a rising star on the Irish folk and alternative scene. An artist renowned for her unforgettable live performances, Larkin has the ability to blend the old and new within the contemporary landscape of her own experience.

Ahead of her Campfire Club shows with us at the end of August, we had six questions for her…
