Campfire Club: Bristol

19th August 2020 • 6pm or 8:45pm • Bristol & Online

The Nest Collective invites you to enjoy a beautiful outdoor concert with Dizraeli and Kitty Macfarlane.

We are very excited to be presenting this series in partnership with Friends of the Earth. They want to double tree cover as part of our fight against climate and nature breakdown. Doubling tree cover could remove 10% of the planet-wrecking emissions in the UK annually. Find out more about Friends of the Earth’s tree campaign, and sign the petition calling for the government to double tree cover, by visiting their website here.

We are thrilled to share the line up of outstanding artists who we will be featuring across the series:

• Saturday 8th August in London: Sam Amidon, Hannah Read

• Wednesday 12th August in London: The Hut People, Kadialy Kouyate

• Saturday 15th August in Sheffield: Rowan Rheingans, Jim Moray

• Wednesday 19th August in Bristol: Dizraeli, Kitty Macfarlane

• Saturday 22nd August in London: Millicent Chapanda, Germa Adan

• Wednesday 26th August in London: Nick Hart, Ewan McLennan

There will be no on-site catering available; you are welcome to bring your own food. Please do not bring your own alcohol, as we will be running a bar.

Dizraeli

Poet, producer, MC and multi-instrumentalist, Dizraeli is a genre all of his own. In the past few years, having composed the soundtrack for parallel-universe drama Tripped on E4, won the BBC Poetry Slam Championship and led the groundbreaking band Dizraeli & The Small Gods to underground success, he has built himself a cult following around Europe and played to audiences of thousands around the world. He’s supported Saul Williams and Mos Def on their UK tours, worked with Kate Tempest and Scroobius Pip and had his music played on BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Radio 2, Radio 3, Worldwide FM and 6Music. His 2019 album The Unmaster was made after 3 years studying percussion in Senegal, immersing himself in the world of London grime and bass music, working with refugees in Calais and finally, living through a mental breakdown, and was his first self-produced album showcasing an electrifying new sound.

“A brave and wildly different sound… startling” – Tom Robinson, 6 Music

“A vital, poetic voice in UK rap” – The Line of Best Fit

Kitty Macfarlane

Kitty Macfarlane is a Bristol-based songwriter and accomplished guitar player. Her sharply observed narrative songs are pure poetry, rich with visual imagery and written with an eco-eye – bound loosely by the theme of mankind’s relationship with the wild. This autumn sees the release of Kitty Macfarlane’s highly anticipated debut album Namer of Clouds, produced by Sam Kelly and Jacob J Stoney and featuring a recognisable cast of musicians.

Gathering inspiration from the sky to the seabed, Kitty’s lyrics touch on intervention and rewilding, climate change and migration and one singular song which is a magical aural tapestry of woman’s historical relationship with textiles and the land. From the starling murmurations on the Somerset Levels to the lowly eel’s epic transatlantic migration, and the small part we ourselves play in a much bigger picture.

“Her remarkably accomplished debut album, Namer Of Clouds, beguiles with its poetry and tenderness” – Guardian

Our audiences say:

“The music of all the Campfire Club gigs I went to was outstanding, but what really makes them special is the atmosphere – beautiful, intimate venues, attentive listening and lovely people really make these idyllic ways to spend an evening.”

“This event was phenomenal. I cannot wait until I have an opportunity to attend another one. It was well organised and the musicians were something else. I certainly didn’t feel as though I was in Peckham, but some enchanted woodlands.”

“Walking into a wonderland of nature with beautiful music and people, it made me feel wonderfully elated.”
