Joseph O’Keefe moves between violin, piano, guitar and accordion with a willingness to experiment with folk forms from different cultures. Described by Songlines Magazine as a “bewilderingly talented multi-instrumentalist, he plays haunting fiddle airs that hark at folk, with the elegance and sense of improvisation of jazz.”
As one half of the folk duo India Electric Co. he has released two albums that have been described as “bursting with invention and full of surprises” (The Telegraph) and with “a life alive with motion.” (The Independent). Performing music that defies to be categorised, they have received airplay across BBC Radio 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 Music.
As a session player and string arranger he has worked with artists including Midge Ure, Calum Scott, Wonho and Lucy Spraggan.
