Brian Briggs is a member of the highly acclaimed folk band Stornaway, a doctor of ornithology, and a senior reserve warden at Llanelli’s Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) Wetland Centre.
Stornaway was formed while Brian studied for a PhD in ornithology at Oxford University, meeting fellow student Jon Ouin and embarking on a period of writing and performing together before recruiting bassist Oli Steadman and his younger brother Rob on drums.
The band released three albums – Beachcomber’s Windowsill in 2010, Tales from Terra Firma in 2013 and Bonxie in 2015; performed on Later… with Jools Holland alongside Sting, Jay-Z and the Foo Fighters; and played the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival.
Since Oxford, Brian has dedicated his time to either music or conservation, or both.
