Cellist and Composer Jonah Spindel works in all kinds of musical roles and settings as a chamber musician, soloist, improviser, collaborative artist, teacher and workshop leader. His work draws from a wide array of genres and traditions, from baroque, folk music, jazz to contemporary classical. He is passionate about the commission, composition and performance of new and contemporary music and forming two-way relationships with living composers and artists, as well as the power of music within our communities.
He has collaborated regularly with film-makers, dancers and other musicians to create new works and has composed for a variety of ensembles in various countries. Over the last few years he has collaborated with and learnt from musicians such as Caroline Shaw, Kit Downes, Anssi Kartunnen, Lucy Railton, Sanju Sahai, Rina Sawayama, Obongjayar, Wilma Archer and Jockstrap, written for dancer Eleni Green and worked with film directors Jack Bradley and Zach Brubert.
