Biography

Since first picking up the guitar, Grassie has rarely put it down. Through forming “Avocet” while in Glasgow, he earned a DK Award at Celtic Connections, which led to performances throughout Scotland’s lively festival scene. Relocating to London in 2020, he could be found at the sessions that would later form Broadside Hacks, with whom he continues to play. Grassie now also plays solo, having recently shared the stage with the likes of Wizz Jones, Jacqui McShee, and Bernard Butler. The Bert Jansch Foundation is currently backing Sam in the production of his first album, and he is set to tour the UK this April, opening for Robin Adams.
