Biography

Owen Spafford is a composer and fiddle player from Yorkshire who specialises in the folk music of Britain and Ireland. He is well versed in his native fiddle styles, having spent years learning from some of the elders of the tradition. Owen is an experienced musician, who has performed internationally, undertaken residencies and contributed to nationally funded projects.

In 2019 Owen was an All-Britain Fiddle Champion in the Fleadh Cheoil na Breataine and was nominated for the BBC Young Composer Competition. Owen plays and writes for BBC Young Folk Award nominated duo ‘Owen Spafford and Louis Campbell’ who look forward to releasing their debut album in 2022.

Owen has also just finished a six-month engagement as violinist with Gifford’s Circus which toured England to critical acclaim.
