As the seasons turn and life returns to the land we’re headed back to the wildlife conservation site at Cody Dock.
May Day holds a very special place in the calendar, being one part a reflection on the Earth’s natural cycle, and another part an important day of solidarity for workers’ rights.
With musical performances, talks, a riverside procession, and dancing of course, this will be an unforgettable May Day experience.
As an active urban wildlife conservation site based in Newham (a key area in the development of worker’s unions, socialist practices and the docklands strikes), Cody Dock is the perfect venue to host this May Day gathering.
The event will start with an optional hour to come and make May garlands by the riverside. We’ll also have a short talk from the team at Cody Dock about what’s happening with the resurging wildlife in the area.
This will be followed by our opening musical performances and reflections on the start of summer.
We’ll then Bring in the May with our procession through the site along with some very special choral performances.
Finally, we’ll arrive at our main stage for more music, celebrations, and dancing.
